Best Practices for Working Offline

Before Going Offline

1. Sync before you leave connectivity Pull down on the work list to force a refresh before entering an area with poor or no signal. This ensures your cache contains the latest assignments, statuses, and task details.

2. Open the items you will need If you know you will be working on a specific inspection or task, open it while connected. Opening an item loads its full details into the local cache.

3. Check the sync dot Confirm the sync dot is green before working in an offline area. This means all previous work has been uploaded. Starting offline while the dot is yellow is fine, but be aware that items may still be queued from before.

While Working Offline

4. Always tap Save / Create / Confirm Every action must be saved explicitly. If you enter data but do not tap save, it is not stored. Never navigate away before confirming each action.

5. Save frequently For long sessions, save items as you go rather than completing everything at once. This minimizes risk from unexpected interruptions.

6. Annotate photos before saving Use the markup tools while you are still in the camera - you cannot annotate a photo after it has been attached. Mark areas clearly while the image is fresh.

7. Keep the application in the foreground Keep InspectERM active on screen while completing offline work to ensure all saves are processed correctly.

After Returning to Connectivity

8. Wait for the green dot After connectivity returns, wait for the sync dot to turn green before logging out or closing the application. This confirms all offline work has been received by CloudERM.

9. Pull to refresh after sync After the dot turns green, pull to refresh the work list to see new assignments or changes made while you were offline.

10. Do not force-clear the application cache Do not delete the app's storage through system settings while offline work is pending. This will delete locally queued data before it can upload.
