When Offline Mode Is Activated
Trigger Conditions
Offline Mode activates automatically when:
- The device has no active internet connection (no Wi-Fi, no cellular data)
- The device is in Airplane Mode
- The network is available but CloudERM servers are unreachable
The application monitors connectivity continuously. The moment connectivity is lost or restored, the app responds immediately.
Visual Signals
Sync Status Dot - Red
The sync dot in the header bar turns red when offline.
| Dot Color | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 🟢 Green | Connected and fully synced |
| 🟡 Yellow | Connected, upload in progress |
| 🔴 Red | Offline or server unreachable |
Offline Mode Alert
An "Offline Mode" alert appears when the app detects it is offline at launch or during use. Tap OK to dismiss. The alert reappears every time the app opens in an offline state.
App Behavior During Offline Mode
Once offline, the application:
- Stops making network requests
- Displays cached data - the work list, inspection details, and task details continue showing the most recently loaded content
- Saves all new actions locally - inspection completions, work logs, and status updates are stored on-device immediately
- Queues uploads - all pending data is held in an upload queue ready to send when connectivity returns
Transitioning Back Online
When connectivity is restored:
- The app detects the change automatically
- The sync dot turns yellow as queued data begins uploading
- The sync dot turns green when all pending data is confirmed received by CloudERM
- The work list refreshes with any new assignments that came in while offline
No action is required. The transition is seamless.
