Offline Mode Limitations and Expectations

What Requires Connectivity

The following features are not available offline:

FeatureWhy It Requires Connectivity
Initial loginOTP delivery requires SMS and session creation requires the server
Receiving new assignmentsNew work assigned in CloudERM while offline will not appear until the next sync
Assignee search filterQueries the CloudERM user directory in real time
Loading data not yet cachedInspections or tasks never loaded while online cannot be viewed offline

Data Freshness

The work list shown offline is a snapshot from the last time your device was online. Changes made in CloudERM while you are offline - new assignments, status changes, reassignments - will not appear until you reconnect and the list refreshes.

Best practice: Pull to refresh before entering a low-connectivity area so your cached data is as current as possible.

Cache Coverage

The local cache stores up to 100 items (the pagination limit). If your work list exceeds 100 items, items beyond the first 100 may not be available offline unless they were loaded individually while online.

Session Expiry

If your authentication session expires while offline, you will be prompted to log in again when connectivity is restored. Any offline work completed before session expiry is preserved and will sync after re-authentication.

Partial Photo Uploads

If connectivity is lost mid-upload:

  • The partial upload is discarded server-side
  • The app retries the full photo from the local copy on the next sync
  • The photo remains on-device until CloudERM confirms receipt

App Force-Quit While Offline

If the application is force-quit while offline:

  • Data that was saved (tapped Save / Create / Confirm) is preserved in local storage
  • Data being typed but not saved is lost
  • On relaunch, the app loads from local storage - your saved offline work is still there

Always tap Save or Create before closing the application.
