Viewing Categories

Note: Categories can only be viewed by organizational users who have been granted relevant permissions

The Categories Page - Categories Tab features a tree-view table, that shows a nested view of categories.

Each row represents a category. Clicking on the arrow towards the extreme left of the category row, expands the category, displaying lower level categories within the category. Categories can be searched and filtered via the Name filter atop the table.

Categories have three levels:

  1. Super Category: This is the first and highest level of categories. Cannot be directly assigned to an asset

  2. Category: This is second level of categories. Cannot be directly assigned to an asset

  3. Sub Category: This is the third and last level of categories. Only these can be directly assigned to assets.

Lower level categories inherit some data from higher level categories and assets in turn inherit data from their assigned categories.

The category row may have several colored chips, for easy view of some data fields that are either set on the category or are inherited from higher level categories. Inherited data is shown in a paler shade of similar colored chips. A color legend atop the table helps identify what each colored chip means.
