Promotion Button

Right clicking on a work order task row brings up the action menu that features several action buttons. Within these actions button, is the promotion button that features a yellow icon and a title describing the promotion action. This button is labelled and presented differently for tasks in different states.

This button will appear disabled (greyed out) if promoting the task is restricted. Hovering over the button will display a note listing the reason for restriction. The note also allows navigating to the issue where it can be resolved. Once all pending reasons for promotion restriction are resolved, the button will be enabled.

The process of working on a task begins with creating a task against an asset and adding required parts to the task.

A new task is created in the pending state. However, if booked parts are added to the task, it will transition to the awaiting parts state. Once all booked parts are received, the task will automatically transition to the pending state.

Promoting a Pending Task To Ready

Tasks require an expected start date and a task level to be marked ready. Work can be initiated on tasks that are ready.

To promote a Pending Task to Ready, head to the Service - Tasks Page via the Left Navigation Menu. Right click on a pending work order task row to bring up the action menu. Promotion Button will appear as below:

Clicking the button will display a prompt to the user, to confirm promotion. On confirming the prompt, the task will be promoted to ready.

Promoting a Ready Task To In Progress

To promote a Ready Task to In Progress, head to the Service - Tasks Page via the Left Navigation Menu. Right click on a ready work order task row to bring up the action menu. Promotion Button will appear as below:

Clicking the button will redirect user to the new work log creation popup.

State transition to In Progress can only be performed via a work log. The New Status field will be pre-filled with the new status (In Progress). display a prompt to the user, to confirm promotion. On confirming the prompt, the task will be promoted to in progress.

Alternately, the task can also be promoted directly via work logs in the task popup. To do so head to the Service - Tasks Page via the Left Navigation Menu. Click on a ready work order task row to open the Task Popup. The last tab on the Task Popup is the Work Logs Tab.

Click on the + New Work Log button on the top right corner of the popup to open the New Work Log Popup.

Fields highlighted in red are required fields. To promote the task, make sure to select the new status in the "New Status" field. . Fill in other required and optional fields and click the Create button to create the work log, and simultaneously promote the order to in progress state.

Similar processes can be followed to make following updates to the task status:

  1. In Progress -> Paused

  2. Paused -> In Progress

  3. In Progress -> Done

The task popup auto-closes when task is promoted to Done.
