Field Settings

The Asset Fields Settings govern the degree of importance a field has in asset creation and validation. Any field of data can have one of four field settings:

1. Require: Fields with the require setting cannot be ignored on entity creation. Providing these fields is a must when creating a new asset within CloudERM.
2. Validate: Fields with the validate setting are essential for business/organizational processes. While assets with missing or outdated data on validate fields can be created in CloudERM, these assets will be rendered invalid, and processes will be restricted for the asset until valid data is provided.
3. Optional: Fields with the optional setting can be ignored. Assets with missing/outdated data in these fields have no restrictions on creation and processes.
4. Omit: Fields with omit setting are ignored by the software. These fields are not displayed on the software's UI and any past data in these fields is ignored.

Field settings are shown across columns so you can configure different settings for different asset kinds. The columns, in order, are Default, Assets, and Attachments and Add Ons — letting you apply one setting to standard assets and a different setting to attachment/add-on assets.

Each setting is shown as a colored chip so you can spot a field's requirement level at a glance:

To modify a field setting, simply click on the setting in the relevant column and select a new setting from the dropdown menu, then click on the Save Settings button to sync settings with the server.
